Kick the Kitchen Chaos
A growing trend is the ‘urge to purge’. As a society we are frustrated with not being able to find an important piece of paperwork, the other red sock or the parmesan we were sure was in the fridge. We also don’t appreciate the unscheduled shopping trip because the custard powder we need for tonight’s dinner is three years out of date!
Ok, interesting trend but what does this mean to us as Tupperware Demonstrators?
People are spending more time at home and they want their special spaces to be organised and work for them.
Capitalise by offering a variety of interesting demonstration options to suit different lifestyles… and present Tupperware products with confidence knowing they will fill your customers’ increasing need to de-clutter.
A CKP Workshop is one theme you may like to try. This is a CKP for two or more people.
Before the workshop:
• Provide the Host and each guest with a pantry list from the design-a-demo website (visit www.tupperware.com.au/designademo and select the CKP link).
• Ask them to go through their pantry and complete the list of ingredients and quantities they buy. They should bring this list to the workshop.
• Watch the CKP training DVD (sequence #4659)
• Go through the storage chart in your product guide and write yourself a ‘cheat sheet’ of the common ingredients, quantities and matching containers. For example 500g sugar (and most ingredients) fits into an Oval #2; 2kg of flour fits into a Square #3 (great for using cups to measure). You can use the pantry list for this.
At the workshop:
□ Take a large selection of Modular Mates to the workshop to demonstrate how customers can organise their shelves and show which containers best suit their needs (the Modular Mates Collection #2 from the May Preview is perfect – in other months take a couple of regular range sets).
□ Build the containers into mock shelves to show how beautiful their pantry shelves will look once done.
□ Take the Container Labels with you and pass around to jog customers’ memories of ingredients they may have forgotten.
□ Explain which containers are ideal for pouring (Ovals and Super Ovals) and which containers suit scoops or cups (Squares and Rectangles)
□ Take before and after photos of any other pantries you have ‘rescued’ with you (including your own).
□ Use the CKP brochures (sequence #4503) and other CKP support tools available on the design-a-demo website.
□ Take the Modular Mates storage chart from your Product Guide to help you identify the ideal container for additional requirements.
□ Take along your Host Gifts, Thank You Gifts, Taste of Tupperware recipes and Relax, Rejuvenate and Re-Energise theme cards to tempt the guests to date from the workshop.
Offer other themes based around de-cluttering different areas of the house.
Tupperware’s core product ranges of Modular Mates, FridgeSmart, Clear Mates, Heat ‘N Eat and Antarctica include solutions for every area around the home; from the bathroom cupboards to the laundry, the medicine cabinet to the office, the bedroom to the kitchen and even the outdoor spaces… Use these products to help sort, stack, store, organise and tidy.
Of course the kitchen is one of the biggest areas of frustration for most. It’s a place people spend a fair bit of time, space is usually limited and unlike other areas of the house, most of the items stored here are perishable. Therefore, if these items get forgotten or lost we are likely to waste money throwing them away and waste time having to replace them.
In fact, statistics show that households in Australia/New Zealand throw away one fifth (20%) of the groceries they buy. At parties ask your customers to work out their family’s food budget; 20% of this adds up to a very large amount of money over the year… probably enough for a decent family holiday! Ask customers where they would have that holiday or how else they would like to spend the cash they could save by using Tupperware to keep everything fresh.
Customers buy products based on perceived value. Price is rarely an issue when they can clearly see a benefit. This is where painting enticing word pictures will help your customers visualise what the products can do for their lifestyle. To date a fridge theme you might say…
“Imagine if your cheese never dried out in the fridge, you never have to throw away cold cuts and every fruit, vegetable and herb you go to use is still crisp, fresh and delicious”
OR
“Picture how easy life will be with a fresh deli and salad bar stacked neatly in your fridge, ready to make gourmet sandwiches or quick-fix snacks and salads in an instant”
“The hungry hoards at your place will love the convenience and make healthier eating choices without even realising it”
Pick up a stack of FridgeSmart or Clear Mates and describe the ingredients they can keep fresh in these containers. Ask what items they enjoy eating and show which size will suit the quantities they buy.
Give tips such as:
□ Always store meats and cheeses under a square or rectangular Seal. Round Seals can collect condensation in the centre which may drip onto the contents. In square or rectangular containers condensation tends to go to the sides of the Seal.
□ To avoid condensation keep the Seals off for 15 to 20 minutes when first putting in the fridge and re-storing after use. This will quickly chill the ingredients to the same temperature as the container and the outside air. It helps to put the oven timer on to remind you to re-seal.
Being ‘topical’ not ‘typical’ with your demonstrations will delight your customers, keep their interest, see them coming back for more and even referring you to new customers.
Use the fantastic range of core products along with the great additions in the May package to help your customers get together and get organised. They’ll thank you and so will your bank balance!
