Please Tell Us A Little About Your Life Before Tupperware:
Prior to Tupperware I was a primary teacher for about 15 years, mainly teaching Year 7 & 8 students. It is a job that I have always loved and been extremely passionate about, even going on to obtain a Masters Degree in Education, to further expand my opportunities within the profession. I had always envisaged that I would always work within this domain, but little did I know!!
I stopped teaching full-time almost 5 years ago to have our daughter Taylah (4 years) and then completely, once Reuben (19 months) arrived. While I have always relished the idea of being a ‘stay-at-home’ Mum and really cherish these early years with our children, I have struggled with the lack of stimulation and limited income.
Why Did You Join Tupperware:
I joined Tupperware in January 2010, after my husband was involved in a serious truck accident, resulting in a change of job and a reduced income. However, as we did not want to put the children into childcare, I did not want to go back into the classroom. After talking to a good friend, who was also a demonstrator, I began to carefully consider the idea – crazy as it initially seemed. As my husband, Vern, and I talked it over, we quickly realised that Tupperware ticked all the boxes. It would provide me with a hugely flexible opportunity (no childcare concerns to consider) to earn an extremely lucrative income – particularly in comparison with my previous earning potential.
What do you love most about working in Tupperware, and what has it done for you personally and your family:
I have had an amazing journey with Tupperware over this last year and it has far exceeded our expectations with regards to what has brought to our lives. It has gone far beyond the financial and material gains, of which there are many, to friendships, personal growth, skills and recognition which are all real highlights.
I love the stimulation and challenges of the job - it is never dull. The social aspect is also another fantastic element. I am extremely fortunate to belong to a distributorship that embraces ‘collegiality’ as one of its highest values. We are a family, from our incredibly supportive directors, right through to the other mangers and demonstrators. Both my husband and children have also been warmly welcomed and included, which is particularly important to me.
Since Tupperware, we have now been able to revisit our goals, that had been previously shelved and it is exciting to watch our savings grow and see that these future plans are now becoming obtainable. We have also enjoyed additional extras, by way of fabulous gifts, trips and income for those extra things that help make living fun!
How Do You Keep Your Performance So Consistent?
Setting goals and knowing exactly what is required to achieve them is extremely important. I therefore always try to keep control of my diary and know exactly where I am, making sure that my time is structured and well planned. This includes identifying gaps as early as possible and taking steps to ensure that these are being filled. I also use the ‘Contact is Care’ notion, to limit party cancelling and re-scheduling. I also endeavor to make dating at parties the rule, rather than the exception, grabbing the ‘Tupper Bubble’ and reaping the flow-on that it usually ensues.
Please Give Us Your Three Top Tips for a Consistent Business:
- Set specific goals and be strategic about running your diary. Keep party goals ‘Top of Mind’ and be quick to fill any gaps.
- Make being a ‘Host’ a special experience. Really look after them, ensure that their work/input is minimal and that hosting a party is a huge amount of fun. Provide them with all of the tools, support and regular contact needed to guarantee a successful party.
- Keep parties relevant, varied, interesting and fun!
