Contact MeA friend got Vanessa thinking about a career in Tupperware. While working long hours during the weekends in retail, Vanessa’s friend remarked that she would earn more money demonstrating two parties a week than she did working all day on Saturday and Sunday.
‘I started thinking about that quite seriously,’ remembers Vanessa. ‘If you can earn that sort of money in that sort of time, why on earth would I work 16 hours? So that’s what made me decide to give Tupperware a go’.
After joining as a Demonstrator in May 2006, Vanessa thought about taking on a manager’s role, but was a bit hesitant. Her manager had other ideas.
‘She knew I wanted to do it and gave me a little bit of push’ laughs Vanessa. There was also the consideration of having two pre-schoolers.'
Vanessa waited a year until her daughter, Bianca, started school before accepting the manager’s role.
‘It was just waiting for that right time,’ says Vanessa. ‘I only had one preschooler then and that made it a bit easier.’
So in May, 2007, Vanessa finally made the transition. Being a part of Tupperware has afforded Vanessa, her husband John and children Bianca and Antony an enviable lifestyle. When the Gola family outgrew their small house, Vanessa’s Tupperware income enabled them to upgrade to something larger.
And, according to Vanessa, it goes beyond that. ‘We can go and do the things we want to do and let the kids have the experiences that they want to have; that’s what Tupperware has done for us.’
Vanessa also believes the recognition and the rewards that she received through Tupperware has helped grow her confidence and develop as a person.
‘As a stay-at-home mum, Tupperware it gives me my own independence.’
Vanessa points to a number of highlights in her Tupperware career, including her team being recognised as one of the top five in New Zealand. However, the one stand-out feel-good career experience, Vanessa says it’s promoting team members to managers.
‘You get to see the people within your team grow and develop, and promoting one of them is, I think, one of the best highlights.’
‘There’s also the business travel to look forward to, where you meet other managers from all over Australia/ New Zealand.’
Vanessa has attended conferences in Perth, Queensland and Kuala Lumpur, where she has experienced the magic of the destinations and made many close friends.
How has Tupperware changed Vanessa’s life? It gives her family financial freedom to pursue their dreams and it gives her flexibility to fit in a rewarding career around her family.
‘I’ve got a really good job where I earn a good income and it works around my children of course’, says Vanessa. ‘It was the best move I ever made.’
