Contact MeTania had been toying with the idea of joining Tupperware for some time when a magazine article offered the motivation she needed to actually ring the Company.
‘I had sold Tupperware when I was much younger and remembered how flexible it was,’ recalls the 40-year-old mother of two from Christchurch. Having just returned from the United Kingdom, where she and her husband Roger had lived for two years, Tania was looking for work that was flexible and could fit around family life.
‘I had a one-year-old at the time (son Jesse, now 5), was pregnant (Indi, now 3) and Roger had just begun shift work in his job as a technical engineer for Air New Zealand – so I really needed something that could accommodate all those factors.’
It was around this time that Tania chanced upon an article in a parenting magazine that listed the top jobs for full-time mums, where Tupperware was mentioned.
It was the catalyst she needed to contact the Company and within days found herself being interviewed. ‘The fact that I didn’t have to outlay any money to join really cemented my decision to give it a go,’ she says. ‘I had no high expectations of myself when I started – I simply wanted to contribute to the family income with a little left over for myself,’ she says.
However, the job proved a match made in heaven, offering Tania both flexibility and an extra income. With a desire to earn at least $200 a week, Tania easily achieved her goal by holding just two parties a week.
She says she had no trouble dating parties and within eight weeks of joining had also introduced another two people into the business. It wasn’t long before Tania realised there was much more to a career in Tupperware than simply earning a little extra cash.
‘When Indi was five weeks I was approached to become a Manager. And while I was hesitant, I knew I would have great support from the Company’.
Tania did take on the challenge, which meant she was rewarded with a higher income, gifts and the opportunity to achieve incentive trips nationally and overseas.
As a Manager, Tania’s income has increased significantly, affording a range of lifestyle extras: ‘I love to travel and the money earned from Tupperware allows me to indulge that – we have just returned from two weeks in Fiji.’
And Tania is adamant achieving success in Tupperware isn’t difficult: ‘The training and support offered by the Company is excellent. It isn’t rocket science – by simply following a number of steps you can grow a successful business. If I can do it, anyone can achieve the career they want.’
Best of all, Tania achieved all this without sacrificing family life. ‘Tupperware has allowed me to be the mum I want to be. I have time for my children, to take them to school and pick them up and I’m around for things like sports days. A nine-to-five job wouldn’t allow me to do that. It’s why I love the business and love sharing the opportunity with as many as possible.’
