Sandra Pezzutti

The Sky's the Limit

Sandra Pezzutti still laughs as she recalls her first Tupperware party three years ago. With her strong Italian background, the 41-year-old mother of two from Sydney says she had grown up in a household where all foods were stored in glass.

“I knew nothing about Tupperware and seeing food stored in plastic was a real culture shock.”

Not enough of a shock though to deter Sandra from making enquires about becoming a Tupperware Demonstrator. When the former accountant wanted to return to work part-time after the birth of her two boys – Nicholas and Luca, both now aged five and eight respectively-her employer said no, offering instead to only a full-time position.

“I loved my job,” Sandra admits. “It was in the corporate sector and the money was very good. But priorities change once you have a family and I wanted the flexibility to be involved with my children’s school and after-school activities.”

It was then that Sandra decided to give selling Tupperware a go.

“I gave myself three months,” she says, adding she was happy to walk away if it didn’t work. Yet her casual approach belied a determination to prove wrong both friends and family who questioned her new career choice.

“Many of my friends couldn't believe I was doing it.”

Sandra has certainly had the last laugh: today the Executive Manager manages a team of 50, drives a snappy Ford Territory as her manager car, earns a salary that has helped renovate her home and pay for family holidays and has managed to strike a happy and workable balance between job and home life.

Not only is the money “unbelievable for the hours worked”, but Sandra is in the unique position of increasing her weekly salary whenever she wants. “If I want to add to my mortgage repayments, or I’ve had a few expenses, I simply cover that by holding an extra Tupperware party,” she says. “The beauty of selling Tupperware is that you can mould the business to suit you and what you want from it.”

Sandra is also full of praise for the support and training Tupperware offers, available to all Demonstrators to maximise their opportunity for business success.

“The training is amazing. And the people can’t believe it when I tell them it’s free – most workplaces charge for training.”

Sandra is the first to admit a full-time Tupperware career may not be for everyone: she has Demonstrators in her team who are both single and married and working a traditional nine-to-five job.

“But they know whenever they want to take that next step and establish their own Tupperware business, the opportunity is there for them.”

“I’ve tried other party plans and have given up after a couple of months. What’s the difference about Tupperware? It’s not just about sales, but about the great support you are given to help you achieve your goals. It’s why people stay in the business so long.”
